Dance for Spiritual Awakening

Moving into greater clarity & well-being.

Dance & Mindfulness Meditation!

We bring together the two most engaging activities: Dance & Meditation…meditation & dance. Meditation is the core value here, for all the benefits of meditation: meditation for anxiety, inner peace, better sleep, increased concentration, et al. Combining relaxing music or meditation music with a conscious movement, dance meditation, even a guided meditation or mindful meditation, again, like dance meditation, and you increase the benefits of meditation.

Dance Meditation begins with mindfulness through movement.

Whether your objective is meditation for anxiety, a morning meditation practice, mindfulness exercises, chakra meditation, or even a quick, 10-minute meditation, there are so many types of meditation; it’s important to find the one(s) which resonate best for your purposes. The key is remaining curious about what works for you!

Imagine being in elementary school and learning how to dance freely: What at first was interesting & even pleasurable, like Latin dancing or Western line dancing, becomes liberating & transformational when you invite your body & feelings to give you free rein. Imagine moving in ways which are facilitating great self-awareness, self-discovery, and rejuvenating. Remember feeling so free to express yourself? Well, it’s time to re-discover your ecstatic potential for living fully in your body.

Now, you will discover even more benefits of meditation: deeper breathing brings more oxygenation to the brain, movement brings more endorphins or pain relief, achieving a goal brings more dopamine (“the reward chemical” naturally produced in the body when you successfully complete a task), combine with contact improv or group dance events and now you’ve got oxytocin flowing, “the love hormone”, but through and through, with any kind of mindfulness meditation, you’ll produce the mood stabilizer, serotonin, regardless of whether you are in sunshine or nature walking.

So, imagine a beautiful, open space where the music makes you want to stretch and breathe. The rhythm moves you. The temperature is just right. The lighting makes you feel comfortable, and the floor is easy to glide on with your bare feet. You explore different qualities of movement of the famous dance meditation style, 5 Rhythms*, created by Gabrielle Roth, the “urban shaman”, author of Sweat Your Prayers:

Learn to Facilitate Dance Meditation Classes

3. Chaos, so you might release any sadness from your knowing mind;

4. Then Lyrical, to see with your soul, your infinite capacity for joy;

“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: “When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?”
